Disney World Closure Update Big Changes Coming in February 2026

Disney World Closure Update: Big Changes Coming in February 2026. Disney World is going through a massive overhaul this year. Between permanent closures and long-term construction, all four Parks look a lot different from how they used to. Wondering what rides are closed during your vacation if you’re heading to Orlando and Walt Disney World in February? Here is what you need to know about the ride schedules.

Animal Kingdom: The End of DINOSAUR

The biggest news this month is at Animal Kingdom. DINOSAUR is closing forever on February 2nd. The ride has been around since the park opened in 1998, but it’s making way for a new Indiana Jones attraction. This is part of the “Tropical Americas” expansion, so if you want one last run-in with the Carnotaurus, you only have a few days left.

Magic Kingdom: Two Major Mountains Down

Two popular spots in Magic Kingdom are currently behind construction walls:

  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad: This has been closed for over a year. Disney is replacing the track and adding a new scene based on the old Rainbow Caverns. It isn’t expected to reopen until Spring 2026.
  • Buzz Lightyear Space Ranger Spin: This ride is getting a refresh. When it reopens later this year, it will have new blasters, new cars, and a new robot character named Buddy.

EPCOT: Frozen Gets an Upgrade

Over in Norway, Frozen Ever After is down for a quick update. It closed in late January and should reopen later this month. The main goal here is to replace the old “screen-face” animatronics with the newer, more realistic versions seen in Hong Kong Disneyland.

A Look Ahead: What’s Closing Next?

The changes don’t stop in February. If you are planning a trip later this spring or summer, keep these dates on your radar:

  • Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster (Hollywood Studios): The Aerosmith version of this ride is closing for good on March 2, 2026. It will stay closed until the summer, when it reopens with a brand-new Muppets theme.
  • Typhoon Lagoon: This water park is scheduled to close for its annual maintenance on February 14, 2026. At the same time, Blizzard Beach will reopen to take its place.
