Prime Video Orders 'Lore Olympus' Animated Series from The Jim Henson Company

Prime Video Orders ‘Lore Olympus’ Animated Series from The Jim Henson Company. Amazon MGM Studios is officially bringing the massive WEBTOON hit Lore Olympus to the small screen. Prime Video announced today that it has ordered an adult animated series based on Rachel Smythe’s modern retelling of Greek mythology.

The show will be available in over 240 countries. It marks a major milestone for The Jim Henson Company, as this is their first-ever project in the adult animation space. Lore Olympus isn’t just a popular comic; it is a global hit. On the WEBTOON platform, the story has racked up over 1.8 billion views. It reimagines “The Taking of Persephone” with a stylish, neon aesthetic and focuses on the messy personal lives of the gods.

For Prime Video, this adds another high-profile title to their growing animation lineup. Melissa Wolfe, Head of Animation at Amazon MGM Studios, noted that the series fits their goal of bringing beloved, established stories to a global audience.

Lore Olympus redefined what mythology can look and feel like for a new generation, and we’re thrilled to bring this beloved story to our global Prime Video audience,” said Melissa Wolfe, Head of Animation, Amazon MGM Studios. “Julia’s vision, combined with Rachel Smythe’s iconic world and our extraordinary collaborators at WEBTOON Productions and The Jim Henson Company, makes this an exciting addition to Prime Video’s growing animation slate.”

David Madden, President of WEBTOON Productions, said the timing is perfect. “We’re thrilled to kick off 2026 with this incredible project,” he said, noting that fans have been asking for a screen adaptation for a long time.

There is no official release date yet, but the production is moving forward with Delaney Shiokari overseeing the project for Henson.

“I am beyond thrilled to partner with Prime Video, The Jim Henson Company, and WEBTOON on the series adaptation of Rachel Smythe’s wildly popular webcomic, Lore Olympus,” said Julia Cooperman. “My fascination with Greek mythology has spanned grade-school libraries and college seminars. Reading Lore Olympus, I was reminded of the enduring power of these tales, which echo through so much of our modern-day storytelling. We can’t wait to share this frisky, soulful, and timely reimagining of Persephone and Hades’ story with new audiences and longtime readers alike.”
