Disney+ Original ‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 2 Premieres Today. Season two of “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” is based on the second installment of Disney Hyperion’s best-selling book series titled “The Sea of Monsters” by award-winning author Rick Riordan. In the new season, Percy Jackson returns to Camp Half-Blood one year later to find his world turned upside down.
So, here’s what happened in the first season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians.
We start with Percy Jackson, a regular kid who finds out he’s not so regular after all. He learns the Greek gods are real, and he’s a demigod—the son of Poseidon, the sea god. This is a huge deal because Poseidon, Zeus, and Hades (the “Big Three”) agreed a long time ago not to have any more kids.
Percy gets whisked away to Camp Half-Blood, a safe place for demigods. But right away, Zeus accuses him of stealing his Master Bolt, which is like the god of the sky’s main weapon. To stop a huge war between the gods, Percy has to go on a quest.
He teams up with Annabeth, a super smart daughter of Athena, and Grover, his best friend who is secretly a satyr. They travel across the US, fighting monsters like Medusa and the Chimera, where they almost get trapped forever in the Lotus Hotel and Casino, and they get the feeling that someone is setting them up the whole time.
In the end, Percy finds out that the real thief wasn’t Hades, who had stolen his mother. The Master Bolt was hidden in a backpack that Ares, the God of War, gave them. After Percy beats Ares in a fight, he returns the bolt to Zeus.
But the biggest surprise is the prophecy about a friend betraying him. Turns out, it was Luke, the friendly counselor from the Hermes cabin, who stole the bolt. Luke is mad at the gods for all their mistakes and is working with the evil Titan Kronos to overthrow them. Luke escapes, and Percy, Annabeth, and Grover all leave camp for the year, promising to meet up again next summer.
‘Percy Jackson and the Olympians’ Season 2:
And that’s why Season 2, which premieres today, starts right where we left off. The biggest threat is still out there. Luke is gone, but he’s actively planning to bring back Kronos, who is like the grandfather of all the gods and wants to destroy Olympus. Also, the magical defenses of Camp Half-Blood get messed up because of Luke’s actions, specifically the tree that protects the border.
So, Percy, Annabeth, and Grover have to go on a brand new quest, this time to find the legendary Golden Fleece. This fleece is the only thing that can heal the tree and save the camp before it’s completely unprotected from monsters. It’s not just about a stolen item this time; it’s about the safety of their home and the entire demigod world.
