
Colman Domingo Joins Wicked: For Good as the Cowardly Lion! In a major casting announcement, Universal Pictures has confirmed that Emmy-winner and multiple Academy Award nominee Colman Domingo will take on the iconic role of the Cowardly Lion in the highly anticipated second part of the screen adaptation, Wicked: For Good.
Domingo, whose illustrious career has earned him a Primetime Emmy Award, as well as nominations for two Academy Awards, two BAFTA Awards, five Critics’ Choice Awards, two Golden Globe Awards, a Laurence Olivier Award, four Screen Actors Guild Awards, and two Tony Awards, will lend his formidable talent to the beloved character in the conclusion of the cinematic event.
Wicked: For Good and kingofbingo (Colman Domingo’s IG account just posted a new reel where Colman is behind a Cowardly Lion plush in front of his face, does a face reveal, and says “See you in Oz!” then winks at the camera. Watch the reel below.



The casting decision for the voice of the Cowardly Lion has been one of the most closely guarded secrets of the production, and Domingo’s addition ensures a performance that is expected to bring both depth and heart to the role.
Jon M. Chu, in an interview with Deadline last week, had this to say: “For the role of the Cowardly Lion, Chu reached out to a well-known actor on Instagram to record the lines. “I was like, ‘It’s not a ton of lines, but maybe you have a little time. I know you’re busy. I’ll come to you.’ He was like, ‘Why the f*ck not, let’s go!’ And then we went ahead and recorded the lines.” The identity of the actor is being kept under wraps until the film debuts in theaters next month.”
