Last Day to Thank The Phoenicians Spaceship Earth Due To Close for Months

Last Day to “Thank The Phoenicians”: Spaceship Earth Due To Close for Months. Today, Sunday, August 24th, is the last day for guests to experience Spaceship Earth at Epcot. The attraction is set to close for a few months for yearly maintenance. Disney has already said this is a routine scheduled refurbishment and is not a retheme.

From the Walt Disney World Website: Spaceship Earth will be temporarily closed for a routine refurbishment beginning August 25, 2025, and is planned to reopen later this year.

Epcot Parks Hours are 8:30 AM Early Entry Guests / 9:00 AM Regular Guests until 9:00 PM EST. Spaceship Earth is open 8:30 AM – 9:00 PM.

This will not affect the new adults-only lounge, GEO-82, that just recently opened up at World Discovery, inside Spaceship Earth. There will still be other ways of seeing Spaceship Earth. The nighttime Icon lights should still be shining every evening. There is also a new Spaceship Earth Mickey Balloon Popcorn Bucket for sale in Epcot, and during Festival of the Holidays, we may see the return of the Spaceship Gingerbread Earth in CommuniCore Hall.

Spaceship Earth refurbishment comes as Test Track has reopened after a ride retheme, and this week starts the 2025 Epcot International Food & Wine Festival.

The Story Behind the Spaceship

It’s the flagship attraction of EPCOT and the signature symbol of the park. To create the experience inside the iconic geosphere, Disney Imagineers assembled some of the world’s greatest talents.

The all-star roster includes Academy Award® winner Judi Dench as the narrator and Emmy® winner Bruce Broughton, who conducted a 63-piece orchestra and 24-voice choir for his musical score. If you listen closely, you’ll notice that the music for each scene features styles and instruments appropriate to the era, transitioning seamlessly into the next—no small feat.
