Disney Freakier Friday: Pink Slip Surprise Performance at Disneyland with Jamie Lee Curtis. Disneyland is a day away from celebrating its 70th Anniversary, but guests weren’t talking about the new Walt Disney animatronic, or the new snacks & treats available yesterday. Guests at Disneyland were buzzing about the surprise performance from “Pink Slip,” the fictional pop-rock band from Freaky Friday, and the soon-to-be-released sequel, August 8th, Freakier Friday.
In Freaky Friday, Lindsay Lohan’s character, Anna Coleman, is the guitarist and vocalist for a rock band called Pink Slip. A significant plot point revolves around the band’s aspirations to perform at a showcase (Wango Tango) and her mother Tess’s (Jamie Lee Curtis) initial disapproval of her musical pursuits. When Tess and Anna switch bodies, Tess (in Anna’s body) experiences the band’s world firsthand, ultimately leading to her support for Anna’s passion. The band is due to reunite in the upcoming sequel Freakier Friday.
Guests were caught off guard as the stage in Disneyland’s Tomorrowland rose from below, Pink Slip playing the new song Take Me Away, which is now available for streaming. The band, along with stars of the movie Freakier Friday, greeted guests at the Tomorrowland Terrace Stage in Disneyland with guitar pick fans with the band’s name (Pink Slips) and the Freakier Friday logo printed on them. No, Lindsay Lohan was not in attendance. The cast from Freakier Friday also got a chance to meet Minnie Mouse in front of Sleeping Beauty Castle before performing.
Disney Parks Instagram posted: “Best freakin’ day EVER! Jamie Lee Curtis, Julia Butters, Sophia Hammons, Manny Jacinto, and Chad Michael Murray kick off a Pink Slip reunion at Disneyland Park in celebration of Freakier Friday, coming to theaters August 8! In the film, Freakier Friday, Curtis and Lohan reprise their roles as Tess and Anna Coleman. The story picks up years after Tess (Curtis) and Anna (Lohan) endured an identity crisis. Anna now has a daughter of her own and a soon-to-be stepdaughter. As they navigate the myriad challenges that come when two families merge, Tess and Anna discover that lightning might indeed strike twice.
There is a ton of movie tie-ins available, including a new Swapcorn Popcorn Bucket coming to theaters.
