Magic Kingdom Annual Passholder Reservation Change Coming for Disney Starlight. Disney Starlight Dream the Night Away has been officially announced with the opening date of July 20th, 2025. Walt Disney World Annual Passholders need to be aware of the reservation system change that is coming to the Magic Kingdom when the new nighttime parade opens. A Magic Kingdom reservation is required from July 20th, even for morning entry.
To enter a theme park, each Passholder must have a valid admission and may need a theme park reservation, depending on the date of visit:
- Before July 20, 2025: Annual Passholders may visit the theme parks without a theme park reservation on a good-to-go day or after 2:00 PM (except on Saturdays and Sundays at Magic Kingdom park).
- For a Limited Time, Starting July 20, 2025: Due to anticipated high demand, upon the opening of the Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away parade on July 20, 2025, Passholders visiting Magic Kingdom park at any time of day (including after 2:00 PM) must have a theme park reservation. Passholders will continue to be able to enter EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park after 2:00 PM without a theme park reservation.
We still have a few questions that Disney needs to clarify. Does having a theme park reservation at a different park, and park hopping to the Magic Kingdom later in the day, count? Does the reservation have to be specific to the Magic Kingdom park?
If a Passholder has a reservation for another park (e.g., Epcot) and then park hops to Magic Kingdom after 2:00 PM (or whenever park hopping becomes available), will they still need a Magic Kingdom reservation? Historically, once you’ve entered your reserved park, you could park hop to any other park without a reservation for that subsequent park (subject to capacity). The new rule for Magic Kingdom (requiring a reservation at any time of day) suggests this might change for Magic Kingdom. This needs explicit clarification from Disney.
