Ahoy, Mateys! Get Ready to Swig at Magic Kingdom’s New Pirates Tavern!
LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL – Prepare to raise your tankards, landlubbers! Disney Parks has dropped anchor on some exciting new details about The Beak and Barrel, the upcoming pirate tavern setting sail later this year in Adventureland at Magic Kingdom Park. Raise a glass and a hearty shout at this spirited tavern that will extend the Pirates of the Caribbean story. Take a peek at another new space guests will find inside, and there are going to be some special surprises that Pirates fans will love.
This will be the second major lounge to open in 2025 at Walt Disney World. GEO-82 in Epcot’s Spaceship Earth opens on June 4th, 2024. Reservations opened this morning, and within 2 hours, they were all gone, which shows that these lounges are in demand. A new lounge at the Magic Kingdom will be received very well. This will not be replacing Tortuga Tavern, this may be replacing the old Pirates League.
Imagine stepping into a lively pirate pub established by none other than the legendary rumrunner Captain Meridian “Merry” Goldwyn and her chatty first mate, Rummy. This isn’t your average watering hole; it’s a haven for swashbucklers of all ages, promising tales as tall as a mast and grog aplenty.
Inside the Den of Debauchery:
- The Mess: The heart of The Beak and Barrel, this vast central space once served as the mess hall for Spanish soldiers. Now, appropriately dubbed “The Mess,” it will feature long communal tables perfect for sharing pirate yarns. Keep your eyes peeled for the imposing anchor overhead, adorned with dripping candles – a truly striking centerpiece.

- The Bar: A rugged masterpiece cobbled together from the remnants of a cursed shipwreck, the bar is anchored by a skull-shaped stern housing an impressive array of grogs and brews. Look closely, and you might spot the Enchanted Rum Bottle, a gift from the mysterious Tia Dalma, rumored to be the source of the tavern’s specialty drinks. And perched along the bar’s ledge? None other than Rummy, Merry’s loyal first mate, hobbling about, greeting patrons, and keeping a watchful eye on the crew while the captain is away.
- Captains’ Quarters: For those seeking a taste of the finer (albeit slightly rougher) life, the Captains’ Quarters await. Once the living space of the Spanish Comandante, this area still boasts hints of its former grandeur, though not without the scars of pirate revelry – slashed artwork, burn marks, and faded patches where plundered portraits once hung. Above the fireplace, five miniature ships in bottles are mounted, whispered to represent a united front of pirates against tyranny. Keep a sharp lookout, as these bottled brigs have been known to engage in miniature maritime battles!
Meet the Crew:
- Rummy: More than just a feathered friend, Rummy is Merry’s trusted companion and first mate, serving as the tavern’s quartermaster from his perch above the bar. Though retired from the high seas, this dutiful crewman ensures everything is ship-shape, regales patrons with tales of piracy, and is always ready to lead a hearty toast. Disney aficionados might recognize Rummy’s striking resemblance to the original Barker Bird that once greeted guests at the entrance of Pirates of the Caribbean – a beloved figure who has clearly found a new, lively port of call.
While Disney is keeping some treasures under wraps for now, these initial details paint a vivid picture of The Beak and Barrel. Get ready to immerse yourselves in a world of buccaneers, buried treasure, and boisterous fun when this exciting new addition drops anchor in Adventureland later this year. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate’s life for me!
