The humble movie theater popcorn bucket has undergone a remarkable transformation, evolving from a simple snack container into a coveted collectible. A perfect storm of factors fuels this surge in popularity: strikingly elaborate designs, the allure of limited-edition releases, and the viral power of social media. AMC, Regal, Cinemark, and Marcus Theaters have all enjoyed a sales boost selling these collectibles.
While popcorn bucket collecting has been a growing trend for several years, it’s truly exploded in the past twelve months. The Inside Out 2 collection sparked noticeable interest, and Moana 2 further amplified the craze. Even the Dune release—let’s just say it generated a significant “bucket buzz,” in a family-friendly way—contributed to the frenzy.
The rapid sell-out of the Nosferatu coffin bucket solidified the trend, proving the popcorn bucket fandom is a force to be reckoned with. Studios and theaters are recognizing this demand, making increasingly elaborate and desirable designs to feed the insatiable appetite of collectors.
