Disney World’s “Voyage of the Little Mermaid” Marquee Removed to Make Way for New “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure” Coming Summer 2025.
Disney Live Entertainment announced the New ‘The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure’ Show Coming to Disney’s Hollywood Studios in December of 2023, hoping for a show opening by the end of 2024. While the show has seen a delay until this summer of 2025, work is well underway on the new production, and now we are seeing work being done outside the show building in Hollywood Studios.
The large marquee sat on top of the entranceway with sculpted Ariel, King Triton, Flounder, and Sebastian the Crab, with a backdrop featuring Ursula is now completely removed. Even after we recently saw Disney replace the banner that had become faded over time.
The show building has not been used since March 15th, 2020, the day Walt Disney World closed due to the pandemic. Voyage of the Little Mermaid just never reopened. Rumors persisted that the building was in disrepair, which was never proven. Fans of one of Disney Imagineering’s best animatronics, Ursula The Sea Witch, wondered if we would ever get to see it in action again.

Disney recently announced “As we continue to look forward to “The Little Mermaid – A Musical Adventure,” at Disney’s Hollywood Studios we are taking the next steps and filing permits for an all-new marquee. Work on the exterior of the building will begin soon, in preparation for the premiere of this fully reimagined show in summer 2025. We look forward to sharing more details on this exciting new experience soon.“
