“Tangled” Added to the Remake List at Disney – Flynn Rider and Rapunzel are Going Live-Action! For those who visit Disney Parks frequently, we are used to seeing Rapunzel in person. Meeting the Disney Princess is on the must-do list when heading to Disney’s Magic Kingdom. Seeing Rapunzel, Flynn, and the Pub Thugs on the Cinderella Castle Stage or in the Festival of Fantasy Parade is not just for little princesses, plenty of older “kids at heart” stand in long lines at Princess Fairytale Hall to meet our fry pan-wielding leading lady. You cannot go to any Disney Park in the world and not hear “I See The Light” or “I’ve Got a Dream”.
Now Disney Studios is making sure you don’t need to just visit a Park to see them in non-cartoon form. Tangled is getting the live-action treatment.
Good Morning America has confirmed that Disney is working on an adaptation of the 2010 animated film centered on Rapunzel “Tangled”. This time, The Greatest Showman director Michael Gracey is directing with a script from Thor: Love and Thunder screenwriter Jennifer Kaytin Robinson. Casting for the film has yet to be announced. “Tangled” was directed by Nathan Greno and Byron Howard with a screenplay by Dan Fogelman. It starred Mandy Moore as Rapunzel, Zachary Levi as Flynn Rider (aka Eugene Fitzherbert), and Donna Murphy as Mother Gothel. The film, which earned more than $582 million at the worldwide box office, according to The Numbers, won a Grammy for the song “I See the Light,” which also earned a Best Original Song nomination at the Academy Awards. Other songs featured in the film included “When Will My Life Begin?”, “Mother Knows Best” and “I’ve Got a Dream.”
Due in theaters next from Disney Studios is the Live-Action Mufasa: The Lion King.
