Tiana’s Bayou Adventure at Magic Kingdom closes for refurbishment on Monday, November 2, 2026, and reports now point to a Friday, December 18 reopening. That would have the ride back one week before Christmas. Disney itself has only committed to the month. The official wording reads, “Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will temporarily close for routine refurbishment on November 2 and is expected to reopen in December 2026.” We first flagged this closure in our story on the Walt Disney World Railroad’s fall downtime. If the December 18 date holds, the ride will be closed for a little over six weeks, and Sunday, November 1 is the last day to ride before it goes down.
This is the first refurbishment for Tiana’s since it opened in June 2024, and it needs one. The ride’s Audio-Animatronics figures have been in rough shape, with characters often not working during a ride-through. Disney has not said what work is planned, so we do not know yet how much of these six weeks will go toward the figures. We saw what a focused character project can do earlier this year, when Frozen Ever After reopened with updated characters at EPCOT.
Our take is that this is a needed six weeks, and it is not the bad news it might sound like. The first few months of Tiana’s were rough, with the ride frequently going down, pun intended. That part of the story has changed. Over the past year or so the timing has been fixed, and the ride no longer suffers from major downtime. The ride itself is doing its job. The show scenes are what need the attention now, and this closure is the chance to give it to them.
If you are visiting in November or early December, plan your Magic Kingdom day without Tiana’s. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad is open again right next door after its own long refurbishment, so Frontierland still has a big ride to anchor that side of the park. A December 18 return would also put Tiana’s back in the lineup for one of the busiest weeks of the year. Reopening dates can move, so check the Walt Disney World refurbishment calendar again before your trip.
