The Tenth Doctor and Rose Tyler are heading back to the big screen. BBC Studios, CinemaLive and Fathom Entertainment will release Doctor Who: The Satan Pit Extended Cut in more than 1,000 cinemas across the US, UK, Ireland, Canada, Australia and New Zealand for one night only on Monday, November 23, 2026, which is Doctor Who Day. Tickets go on sale Friday, September 25, at 9 a.m. local time.
The event combines 2006’s The Impossible Planet and The Satan Pit into one movie-length cut made for theaters, with deleted scenes that were only on the DVD now edited back into the story, plus extended footage that has never been released. It’s the first time the two-parter has played in cinemas, and it marks 20 years since David Tennant and Billie Piper’s first full season together. The screening also includes a new interview with director James Strong about making the story that introduced the Ood and pitted the Doctor against the Beast.
Doctor Who Day falls every November 23, the anniversary of the show’s first episode in 1963. CinemaLive brought last year’s season finale to UK and Irish cinemas, and this year the celebration widens to the US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
