The photo studio tucked into the Marketplace at Disney Springs just got a serious upgrade. Disney PhotoPass Studio has replaced its old green screen setup with a new walk up experience called Step Into a Storybook, and it is open now, no reservation required.
Guests enter through what Disney is calling the Collector’s workshop, a small room lined with vintage cameras, old park photos, and travel keepsakes, including a nod to PhotoPass history tucked into the props. From there, a photographer hands over a Story Medallion tied to one of two current themes, Frozen or Toy Story, and the medallion gets placed into a glowing storybook to open the doors into that world.
Choose Toy Story and you land in Andy’s room and Bonnie’s room for a set of poses built around the toy box scale of the franchise. Choose Frozen and you get Arendelle and the North Mountain, with an Olaf themed moment built in for anyone who wants to see a snowman. Photos link automatically to a My Disney Experience account, and downloads are free with an active Memory Maker or available to purchase individually, same as any other PhotoPass stop.
The studio sits between Arribas Brothers and Marketplace Co-Op, a stretch of the Marketplace we already send readers through for the district’s easiest coffee run. Current hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily, though that is subject to change. The studio’s seasonal side, currently running a Mickey’s Pumpkin Patch set through our Disney Springs Halloween coverage window, stays open and unaffected by the new storybook side.
Our Take: A green screen booth that most guests walked right past is now a genuine five minute detour worth building into a Disney Springs day, and it does not eat into park time since no ticket is needed here. Worth flagging too, a teaser video in the queue shows a Maleficent themed medallion that has not launched yet, which lines up neatly with the years of anticipation already built around Magic Kingdom’s Villains Land. We will be watching for that one.
