Disney Names Former Xbox Exec Jennifer Creegan Head of Marketing Technology and Operations

Disney has named former Xbox executive Jennifer Creegan as the company’s first-ever Head of Marketing Technology and Operations, a newly created role reporting directly to Chief Marketing and Brand Officer Asad Ayaz. Creegan starts September 7.

This slots directly into the reorganization we’ve been tracking since Ayaz took over Disney’s marketing operation. We profiled Ayaz himself right as he stepped into the newly created Chief Marketing and Brand Officer role, and covered the rockier side of that transition when Disney laid off around 1,000 employees while folding its separate marketing teams into one unified organization back in April.

Creegan joins from Microsoft, where she most recently served as Vice President of Strategy, Business Model, and Insights at Xbox, helping shape strategy across product, content, and monetization as the gaming division shifted toward a more player-focused business. Before that, she spent more than 20 years inside Microsoft’s advertising division, giving her a career built almost entirely around data, technology, and business strategy rather than traditional entertainment marketing.

In her new role, Creegan will work across every major segment of Disney’s business, film and television, streaming, sports, parks and experiences, games, and consumer products, alongside the company’s technology and data teams. Disney says the goal is faster, better-informed decision-making and a more connected view of fans across everything the company makes, part of what it’s calling the next step in evolving its global marketing organization.

Ayaz called Creegan someone who understands how technology and data can help Disney “bring fans closer to the brands and stories they love.” Creegan, announcing the move on LinkedIn, called it “a dream come true to go to Disney.”

Bringing in a gaming and ad-tech strategist rather than a traditional entertainment marketer for this specific role says something about what Ayaz is actually building here. The April reorganization was framed internally as creating something “nimble and modern,” and hiring someone whose entire background is data-driven strategy rather than creative campaigns suggests the connected, tech-first version of that vision is the real priority, not just a smaller org chart.
