Ryan Gosling is Marvel’s new Ghost Rider. Marvel Studios confirmed the casting during its Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con, with Shawn Levy attached to direct. The film heads to theaters in 2028. This is great news coming out of the Marvel Panel tonight during SDCC 2026, while everyone is holding their breath for news of Avengers: Doomsday.

The announcement lands just months after Gosling anchored Project Hail Mary, the sci-fi adaptation that turned into one of the year’s biggest box office hits. He’s also no stranger to blockbuster territory, with Barbie, Blade Runner 2049 and The Fall Guy all on his resume, along with earlier acclaimed turns in Drive and La La Land.

Ghost Rider isn’t Gosling’s first stop in the Disney orbit either. He’s already set to headline Star Wars: Starfighter for Lucasfilm, meaning the Marvel film puts him at the center of two Disney franchises within the same stretch of years. Levy is behind the camera for both projects, giving the pairing a track record before Ghost Rider even starts filming.

No plot details or cast additions have been revealed yet, but with a 2028 release date, expect more to come as production ramps up.
