Halloween Horror Nights is teaming up with Fortnite for the first time, turning the game’s signature Fortnitemares event into a full scare zone at both Universal Orlando Resort and Universal Studios Hollywood this fall. The new scare zone is called Freaky Fields, and it reimagines Fortnitemares as a Halloween-themed battleground. Guests walking through will encounter the Battle Bus and a mix of familiar Fortnitemares characters, alongside new characters made exclusively for Halloween Horror Nights. Fortnitemares is Fortnite’s annual fall in-game event, known for bringing new characters and horror-themed gameplay into the world players already know.

Freaky Fields debuts August 28 at Universal Orlando Resort and September 3 at Universal Studios Hollywood, running alongside the rest of each park’s Halloween Horror Nights lineup. Universal has not yet said whether more Fortnite-themed elements are planned beyond the scare zone, so this may be the extent of the crossover for now.

New merchandise tied to the scare zone is already available at both parks, including a graphic tee, a decal set, and an acrylic collectible piece. The same items launch on ShopUniversal.com on Thursday, July 23 at 9 a.m. PST.

Fortnite remains one of the most-played games in the world, and Fortnitemares has become a can’t-miss moment for its community every fall. Bringing that event into a physical scare zone gives Halloween Horror Nights a built-in audience that may not have set foot in the event before, while giving longtime Halloween Horror Nights fans a completely new IP to explore this season.

Halloween Horror Nights runs select nights at Universal Orlando Resort from Friday, August 28 through Sunday, November 1, and at Universal Studios Hollywood from Thursday, September 3 through Sunday, November 1. Universal says more experiences for this year’s event will be announced soon.
