Walt Disney World is testing its AI-powered website search feature again this week, and for now the test is limited to Cast Members who are logged into their Cast ID accounts.
This is not the first time guests and Disney watchers have gotten a look at the tool. Back in June, the feature briefly appeared on DisneyWorld.com for the general public, carrying a “Cast Preview” label that marks it as an internal test still in development. At the time, the tool was still working out the basics. Some searches returned a message admitting it did not yet have information on the topic, while others returned genuinely useful, concise answers pulled from existing park pages.
This time around, Disney has again restricted access specifically to Cast Members using their Cast ID login, suggesting the company wants a controlled group to test the feature before it reaches guests again. That kind of gated testing is standard practice for Disney’s digital team, and it aligns with how other sites described the June test as an early-stage look at something still being built rather than a finished product.
The renewed test fits into a larger push from Disney to bring AI tools into trip planning. Disney CEO Josh D’Amaro has spoken about using AI to reduce the complexity of planning and booking a Disney vacation, to tailor the experience to what each guest wants most. That effort already includes a rebuilt My Disney Experience app with natural language search, trip countdowns, and shared planning tools for travel groups, alongside the website search feature now back in testing.
For guests, the appeal is obvious. Park hours, dining details, and Lightning Lane information change constantly, and a search bar that can answer a specific question in one line beats digging through several pages. The catch is that an AI summary is only as reliable as the page it pulls from, so anyone who does eventually see this feature on the guest-facing site should treat it as a starting point and confirm details on the source page, especially for anything time-sensitive.
Disney has not announced when this feature might expand beyond Cast Members or what a full guest-facing launch would look like. FLN will keep watching for updates as testing continues.
