Hallmark Channel kicked off its June Summer Nights event with the premiere of ‘The Greek Aisle’ starring Nikki DeLoach and Apostolis Totsikas. From Hallmark: When Georgia travels to the Greek island of Corfu to finalize an inheritance, she unexpectedly discovers that marrying her handsome co-inheritor is the only way to meet the requirements.

‘The Greek Aisle’ isn’t a new premise, as we have seen Nikki DeLoach star in inheritance movies, such as ‘Sweet Autumn’ and ‘Christmas Land’. In ‘Sweet Autumn’, Aunt Dee leaves her candy company to her niece Maggie and Maple farmer Dex. They didn’t know each other and had to work it out. In ‘The Greek Aisle,’ Georgia’s Aunt Margaret leaves her house in Corfu to Georgia and Alex, a Greek police officer who dreams of being a detective.

Georgia had spent time with her aunt 20 years prior and got to know Alex and his family then. She returned to the States to start her business, Glendi. Glendi is the Greek word for festivity or merriment. Georgia’s time in Corfu shaped her. But presently, her business is drowning in loans that need repaying, and Georgia feels that if she can sell her half of the house, she can save her business.

The home is Alex’s dream home, so he wants to buy her half. The problem is that there are Greek laws surrounding the sale, and the loophole is that they get married, and after a time, annul the marriage and walk away with money for her and the house for him.

They let his mother know, and they have a quick wedding and reception at his mom’s restaurant. They spend the time getting to know each other, and yes, they quickly fall in love. Georgia realizes that she doesn’t want to leave but make a go of working remotely and building her relationship with Alex. We’ve seen the formula before, and this time, it felt fresh. This was a new take on the inheritance issue.

Nikki DeLoach is never a miss for me. She brings passion and joy to her roles. You feel her joy and sadness in her scenes; the mark of a true actress. When she was cheering for Alex during his cricket match, you felt her excitement. When she was sad about having to leave, you felt that. She makes you feel. Newcomer to Hallmark, Apostolis Totsikas was a delight. We can visit Greece and him anytime. There was a sprinkle of humor and a lot of heart in this movie.

The backdrop of Corfu is everything you want it to be. It’s stunning and makes anyone want to grab their passport and take a trip right away. Nikki DeLoach’s outfits from start to finish of this movie are goals. The look of the summer! I expect to see a lot of flowy embroidered sundresses and wedge sandals.

This movie reminded me of one of my favorite Hallmark Summer movies, and that is ‘Villa Amore’. This movie has the same feel. You get to know the location and fall in love. ‘The Greek Aisle’ is exactly what a Summer romance movie should be. This is a 4.5 out of 5 popcorn buckets for me.

Summer Nights continues next week with ‘Texas Two Step’ starring Heather Hemmens and Brendan Penny. ‘The Greek Aisle’ is now streaming on Hallmark +. You can catch the last three episodes of ‘The Way Home’ this month.
