Disney has revealed a sweeping new wave of details for “Disney Celebrates America,” the company-wide initiative honoring the United States’ 250th anniversary, including a primetime special on June 29, the Disneyland debut of Soarin’ Across America on July 2, and a 24-hour national broadcast on July 4, 2026.

The Walt Disney Company announced the expanded lineup on June 2, filling in the calendar around what is shaping up to be the most ambitious Independence Day celebration in Disney’s history. The initiative, which began on Veterans Day 2025, culminates on the July 4 weekend with programming and parks experiences spanning coast to coast. Fantasy Land News has been covering Disney Celebrates America since its original announcement last October.

The first major broadcast moment arrives before the holiday itself. “Disney Celebrates America: The Pursuit of Happiness,” a two-hour primetime special, debuts on ABC on June 29. The special spotlights America’s greatest stories, triumphs, and traditions, weaving together real-world locations with the beloved lands of Disney Parks, including places like New Orleans and the American frontier, to connect audiences with the people and places that define the country.

At the parks, Soarin’ Across America makes its Disneyland Resort debut on July 2 at Disney California Adventure Park, joining the previously announced EPCOT version of the attraction. The new film replaces Soarin’ Around the World with an immersive flight experience highlighting American natural beauty and iconic cityscapes. The EPCOT version, which Fantasy Land News first reported alongside the full initiative announcement, has already welcomed guests this summer.

Disney Celebrating America at Walt Disney World July Fourth Fireworks and National Broadcast for 250th Anniversary

The 24-hour multi-platform broadcast on July 4 remains the centerpiece of the celebration. World News Tonight anchor David Muir leads the daylong coverage across ABC, Disney+, Hulu, ESPN, Freeform, FX, and National Geographic, with ABC News correspondents and National Geographic Explorers reporting from all 50 states. The broadcast ends with a live fireworks special from both Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort. Ken Potrock, President of Major Events Integration at The Walt Disney Company, called it an opportunity to celebrate “the people, places, and shared moments that define who we are.”

The fireworks themselves have been expanded to three consecutive nights. “Disney’s Celebrate America! — A Fourth of July Concert in the Sky” will light up Cinderella Castle and Disneyland on Friday, July 3, Saturday, July 4, and Sunday, July 5, giving guests more opportunities to experience the show across the holiday weekend.

Disney’s commitment to veterans and military families is also a central thread of the celebration. A $2.5 million donation to Blue Star Families supports military families nationwide, and Disney will host special movie screenings on military bases and in key markets across the country. Disney Consumer Products has released a special military-inspired merchandise assortment at both resorts, and a broader Americana collection honoring the anniversary milestone is available now at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort, and DisneyStore.com.

Across Disney’s broader portfolio, ABC’s Good Morning America continues its “50 States in 50 Weeks” series, ESPN is hunting for “America’s Team” through a new SportsCenter segment, and National Geographic’s “America in Superlatives” series is running across all platforms through the summer.

Our Take: This is Disney at its finest. Walt himself was famously patriotic, and this celebration feels like a genuine extension of that spirit. Being able to personally witness three nights of fireworks here at Walt Disney World is going to be something special, and Fantasy Land News will be on the ground at Magic Kingdom for the 24-hour broadcast on July 4. We will have you covered all weekend long.
