Hocus Pocus 3 is officially in early development at Disney Live Action Studios, with Bette Midler, Sarah Jessica Parker, and Kathy Najimy all set to reprise their roles as the Sanderson Sisters, according to a report from Deadline. Disney declined to comment, as the project is still in its early stages.

Deadline also reports there are plans for a theatrical release this time around, a shift from Hocus Pocus 2, which went straight to Disney+ in 2022. EVP of Production Jessica Virtue will oversee the project on behalf of Disney Live Action.
The theatrical ambition is the most notable detail here. Hocus Pocus 2 performed well enough on Disney+ to warrant a sequel, but bringing the third film to theaters would be a meaningful step up in scale and signals Disney sees real commercial potential in the franchise beyond streaming. Getting all three original stars back is no small thing either, and the fact that Midler, Parker, and Najimy are all confirmed this early suggests the studio made that a condition before moving forward rather than an afterthought.
