Sulzempic? Sulley Debuts a “Slimmed Down” Look at EPCOT Flower & Garden. Sully & Mike Wazowski from Pixar’s Monsters University topiaries have arrived, and let’s just say it took a moment to figure out what was going on with Sully and the dramatic weight loss he went through, until you realize this is just a younger version of the big, hairy monster we all love. He is not Sulzempic!
The EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival has officially kicked off at Walt Disney World, and while the horticultural topiary displays are spectacular, one particular monster is turning heads for an unexpected reason.
Outside the Creation Shop, the new Monsters University topiaries have arrived. But if you were expecting the massive, fluffy James P. Sullivan we know and love, you might be in for a shock. Let’s just say Sulley is looking… aerodynamic.
The “Sulzempic” Transformation. At first glance, it looks like Sulley hopped on a GLP-1 or went through a dramatic lifestyle change. He’s significantly thinner and lacks that iconic bulk. Before you think he’s on “Sulzempic,” remember the context: these topiaries represent Mike and Sulley during their college days in the prequel, Monsters University.
This is a younger, “scrawny” Sulley before he filled out to become the Top Scarer at Monsters, Inc. While Mike Wazowski looks great sporting his college retainer, Sulley’s thin frame and lack of “fur” (which will hopefully fill out as the plants grow) had us giggling as we passed by.
More Monstrous Additions. It’s not just the duo on display. Surrounding the main stars are several “monstrous” bushes, greenery with eyes peeking out, adding some fun texture to the area. The planters themselves are recycled from last year’s Inside Out 2 garden, providing a bright, vibrant backdrop for the display.
We’re mostly poking fun here! We know the “fur” needs time to grow in! Hopefully, by the time Monstropolis opens at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Sulley will have regained his signature bulk. Until then, we’ll enjoy the “college-weight” version of our favorite beast.
