Universal Orlando Resort is gearing up for a major celebration as the 25th anniversary of the Harry Potter film franchise arrives. This milestone year coincides with the return of Butterbeer Season, a global event that brings limited-edition treats and exclusive merchandise to Wizarding World locations across the globe.
The 2026 season is particularly historic because it marks the first time Butterbeer Season will be celebrated at the all-new Universal Epic Universe. With the opening of the Ministry of Magic land, guests now have a third immersive area in Orlando to explore, making this the largest Harry Potter celebration in the resort’s history.
Epic Universe Takes Center Stage
While Hogsmeade and Diagon Alley remain fan favorites, the Ministry of Magic at Epic Universe is introducing exclusive experiences for the season. Visitors can head to Café L’air de la Sirène to try the new Biéraubeurre (Butterbeer) Crème Brûlée, a French-inspired dessert unique to this location.
The new land is also home to the K. Rammelle confectionery shop, which is playing a vital role in this year’s festivities. During the season, the shop will debut Butterbeer-flavored truffles and macarons. Unlike other seasonal items, these high-end treats are set to become permanent, year-round staples at Epic Universe.
New Treats and Global Debuts
From March 1 through May 31, 2026, the celebration will run across all three Orlando parks. A major highlight for this year is the debut of the Butterbeer Waffle. This new signature item will be available for a limited time at the Three Broomsticks and the Leaky Cauldron.
Universal Orlando is also expanding the menu at its original locations. Fans can find a new Butterbeer Cupcake, Cookie Sandwich, and Candy Apple at Honeydukes and Sugarplum’s Sweet Shop.
A Landmark Year for Harry Potter
The timing of this year’s event is significant because 2026 marks 25 years since “Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone” first premiered in theaters. To honor the legacy, Universal is planning a full calendar of events.
- Butterbeer Season: March 1 – May 31
- Back to Hogwarts: Late summer festivities
- Dark Arts at Hogwarts Castle: Fall projection shows and Death Eater appearances
- Christmas in the Wizarding World: Holiday decor and performances starting in November
The anniversary also extends to new collectibles. Upper Deck recently announced a landmark licensing agreement to produce Harry Potter trading cards. Their first release, the Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone 25th Anniversary set, is expected to be a major draw for collectors this year, featuring rare inserts and 1-of-1 parallels.
Commemorative Merchandise
Those looking to take a piece of the magic home can find new merchandise, including spirit jerseys, bucket hats, and t-shirts. Universal Beijing Resort is even offering a limited-edition 25 Years of Magic Butterbeer Stein.
Whether you are tasting the French-inspired treats at the Ministry of Magic or collecting the newest trading cards, the 2026 season offers more ways than ever to experience the Wizarding World.
