Cinderella’s Castle’s Moat Drained Repainting Underway. Work has finally begun on repainting Cinderella’s Castle, as guests were greeted this morning by a nearly completely dried-up moat surrounding the Castle in Disney’s Magic Kingdom. The updated paint will feature grays, creams, blues, and touches of gold, aiming to enhance the castle’s architecture.
This look into the moat shows us just how clumsy guests can be! While we were there, taking images, we noticed Magic bands, hats, and even phones have all been seen lining the bottom of the moat. It’s impressive how many things guests drop in there on a daily basis. You can see that the best photo spots of Cinderella Castle are the areas with the most dropped items.
Cinderella’s Castle, alongside the moat being drained, was repainted in 2021 to celebrate the park’s 50th anniversary, but is now being redone in time for the 55th anniversary and is set to be completed by October 1st. Just in time to properly celebrate.
Disney has announced previously that guests should not be affected by the moat being drained or the Castle being repainted. When the cranes are being used, they will be lowered by Noon each day. Mickey’s Magical Friendship Faire will continue to be available during this work. The new times are listed as 1:00 PM, 2:05 PM, and 4:00 PM.
