'When Calls The Heart' Look Back At My Favorite Characters - Rosemary and Lee

‘When Calls The Heart’ Look Back At My Favorite Characters – Rosemary and Lee. I will be the first to tell you that this show is a recent find for me. I never gave it a chance until 2 years ago, and now I have watched it three or four times.

I thought what better way to get into the full swing of Season 13 than with a look back at the best characters. This will be a series, so here is part one. These are my opinions and mine alone. And if the answer isn’t Rosemary and Lee, you are wrong. But I digress. This has become a comfort show for me since finding it on Hallmark+.

Rosemary and Lee. What can I say about these two powerhouses? They are so good for my soul. When she arrived in town, she was the former fiancée of Mountie Jack Thornton. Rosemary is the highly theatrical former actress who wanted her Mountie back. Leland “Lee” Coulter arrived in town a few episodes later on a motorcycle, looking to start his lumber sawmill empire. These two were a match made in Hearties Heaven.

It was inevitable that they would get together, and boy, did they. They found themselves engaged and planning their wedding. Rosemary is in a word “Extra,” and that makes her all the more lovable. Lee loves everyone and loves fiercely. Leading up to their wedding, the town dealt with a landslide disaster. They had to accommodate displaced people, and Rosemary gave up the food for her wedding and the materials for her dresses. In the end, they had their wedding with the people they loved, and the rest didn’t matter.

Over the years, they struggled with infertility. Rosemary went from not being sure she wanted children to being deeply sad that it may be her fault. So, we cheered when she finally conceived, and we saw them become parents. Along the way, we learned more of her story with her family, and we met Lee’s family. In the end, they have this adorable little family with their daughter, Goldie.

Lee has employed and been friends with just about everyone in Hope Valley. Rosemary has had a few jobs in Hope Valley. Once the advice columnist for a paper, she then became the clothing designer at Dottie’s. Now she and Lee run The Valley Voice, the Hope Valley newspaper. I absolutely adore these two individually and together. Lee is the mayor of Hope Valley and Rosemary has a radio show. They are never far from their little Goldie and are always first in to help their friends and fellow neighbors. Lee and Rosemary are part of the very heart of Hope Valley and ‘When Calls The Heart.’

The extremely talented Pascale Hutton plays Rosemary. Lee is played by the most likable guy I have ever seen, Kavan Smith. I have seen both of these actors in several other Hallmark movies and have always walked away from them happy.

In the end, Rosemary is the woman I want to be friends with. She’s loyal, honest to a fault, and comical with the theatrics. Furthermore, her friendship with Elizabeth blossomed into the kind of friendship I would love to have. Lee is every guy. Handsome, hardworking, and dedicated. My own husband is a mix of both of these characters. Very theatrical and big expressions, hard-working, and loves fiercely.

So that, dear Hearties, is my favorite couple in Hope Valley. I am a big fan of Rosemary and Lee, and subsequently Pascale and Kavan. Can’t wait to see what season 13 has in store for them. But boy, do I want to be friends with them!
