Tickets On Sale Now! Lord of the Rings Extended Editions Return to Theaters in 2026. Fathom Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures are bringing the Extended Editions of Peter Jackson’s The Lord of the Rings trilogy back to theaters in January 2026. This is a big event to celebrate the 25th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring. Plus, there will be special LOTR popcorn buckets available at AMC, Regal, and select independent theatres.
Furthermore, there is a new logo for the 25th anniversary, plus a new trailer you can watch below! You can grab your tickets here: Fathom Entertainment “The Lord of the Rings Extended Editions.”
The three massive movies will screen across two weekends. The first weekend, January 16th, 17th, and 18th, is when you can catch the special DBOX showings at select theaters. If you go on that first weekend, you can feel the action right from your seat. The following weekend, January 23rd, 24th, and 25th, will have standard showings.
Here is the schedule for each film:
- The Fellowship of the Ring: See it on either Friday, January 16th, or Friday, January 23rd.
- The Two Towers: See it on either Saturday, January 17th, or Saturday, January 24th.
- The Return of the King: See it on either Sunday, January 18th, or Sunday, January 25th.
Fathom and Warner Bros. dropped a special 25th-anniversary trailer today. You can check that out at the link they shared.
They also confirmed the details on the limited-edition concession vessels. You’ll want to check which theater you’re going to:
- AMC Theatres: You can get a Collectible Map Tin that comes with a Quest Magnet Set.
- Regal & Independent Theatres: These spots will have the collector’s favorite: a vessel styled like the “One Ring.”
The Fellowship of the Ring: A young hobbit named Frodo Baggins gets a powerful gold ring. He has to team up with a wizard, an elf, a dwarf, and men to save the world from being enslaved by the ring’s evil power.
The Two Towers: The Fellowship is broken, and Frodo and the others continue their mission to destroy the ring on separate, dangerous paths. They are heading toward two major fortresses where the enemy is waiting.
The Return of the King: This is the epic finale. While massive armies gather for the final battle, Frodo, with his loyal friend Sam, must sneak into the dark land of Mordor to destroy the ring once and for all.
These movies have won 17 Academy Awards and are a huge part of film history. Fathom’s CEO, Ray Nutt, said the films “essentially raised the bar for what is possible on the big screen.”
A new film, The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum, is planned for release in December 2027.
