A recent video circulating on social media has ignited a discussion among theme park fans regarding guest behavior after a child was reportedly instructed to climb onto the stage area of an animatronic performer in Tomorrowland at Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom.
The incident centers on the beloved alien lounge singer, Sonny Eclipse, who performs daily at Cosmic Ray’s Starlight Café. While the animatronic is stationary and non-interactive, a witness captured video of a young child being placed or instructed to stand dangerously close to the figure on its stage. The witness noted a conversation suggesting the action was taken solely for a photograph, raising concerns about guest safety and the preservation of Disney’s classic attractions.
We did not witness the interaction and are going by the video posted by TikTok @fortiffany. “Child stopped Sonny Eclipse after jumping fence and climbing up on stage. Mom told her to do if for a photo…….” Here is the video in question that shows the child already on stage with Sonny Eclipse. The child is seen to give Sonny a hug and kiss, and then play Sonny’s instrument (the keyboard! Okay, that is a horrible way of wording things, you would think as the editor I would fix that, NOPE!)
Not only was this dangerous, but it is a horrible trend over the past few years of people jumping fences, climbing onto stages and props, all for clicks! Recently, a person was spotted climbing on the Epic Universe SUPER NINTENDO WORLD props, and in the past, we have seen guests jump the walls in the exit of Space Mountain to get pictures with the scenery. No word on whether the mother was banned or even if security got involved at all.
