Disney World Removes Gonzo Clock Tower Prop and Muppet*Vision 3D Marquee. It’s a sign of the times, the transformation from Muppets Courtyard to Monstropolis took a big step today with the removal of the Muppet*Vision 3D marquee, and the removal of Gonzo, who was hanging from the clock hands, from the clock tower.
Muppet Vision 3d opened May 16, 1991, and closed June 7, 2025. While the marquee that was removed overnight was not the original marquee, the original marquee for Muppet*Vision 3D was changed in 2017, when it was replaced with a new marquee featuring the name “Grand Arts Theater.”
Gonzo, on the other hand, has been hanging off the face of the Clock Tower on Grand Avenue since 1991!
The Muppets Courtyard area, including the Muppet*Vision 3D theater, is being replaced and re-themed as Monstropolis, a new land based on Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. franchise; the new area will feature dining, a new theater show, and the Monsters, Inc. Doors Coaster, a suspended roller coaster designed to simulate the movie’s door vault scene.
Disney Imagineering has recently set up a preview of the new Land coming to Hollywood Studios. You can see it in Walt Disney Presents.
