Update: Missing Woman Died by Apparent Suicide at The Contemporary Resort Disney World. Police are investigating an apparent suicide that occurred early evening on 10/14 at the Contemporary Resort at Walt Disney World.

Police have identified the person who took their own life yesterday at The Contemporary Resort. It was a female age 31 who was reported missing earlier in the day from Illinois.
As redditors who constantly check r/disneyworld we witnessed this unfold during the day. A person identifying themselves as a member of the females family had made a post looking for information on a missing person, asking if anyone saw her to call the police.
They named the person. They believe she had headed to Disney World on a flight earlier in the day. Unfortunately, this ended in tragedy as the female named in the reddit post was the female named by the Medical Examiners office as the deceased.
Shortly after the first reports starting coming in of an apparent tragedy at The Contemporary the original post was removed/deleted from r/disneyworld.
Prior reports of the woman being struck or striking the Monorail were proven to be false.
This is being investigated by the Sheriff’s office in Orange County, Florida.
Updated 10:50 PM EST – This article has been updated with new information from News 6 (ClickOrlando): “The sheriff’s office later told News 6 that the incident is an apparent suicide.” The original call came in at 6:40 PM EST this evening
The Orange County Sheriff’s Office confirmed the incident, stating it is an apparent suicide. The initial call was logged at 6:40 PM EST on Monday, October 14, 2025, for a “DEAD PERSON” near the resort, located at 4600 N. World Drive.
A heavy police presence was reported at the hotel. Witnesses observed police setting up a response tent on the fourth-floor balcony, an area commonly used by guests to view fireworks. Due to the incident, the Resort Line of the Monorail has been temporarily suspended.
