Totally Tubular! Target X Netflix Stranger Things Campaign Takes Fans Back to the Future… of 1987!
As the fifth and final season of the Netflix blockbuster Stranger Things hurtles toward its conclusion, Target is treating fans to a gnarly blast from the past. The retailer has teamed up with Netflix for a massive, nostalgic campaign designed to immerse fans in the world of Hawkins, Indiana, through bold TV spots, dynamic social content, and engaging in-store experiences.
The cornerstone of the campaign is a new, dedicated pop culture shopping destination, both in stores and online. More than a simple display, this area is designed to be a “portal to Hawkins,” featuring themed setups, must-have product drops, and digital moments that celebrate every twist and turn of the series. To keep the excitement fresh, the in-store and online destinations will evolve as the season progresses.
“The fifth and final season of Stranger Things is more than an ending. It’s a cultural moment, and Target is proud to be the place where fans can celebrate together,” said Cassandra Jones, senior vice president of merchandising for Fun101 at Target. “With our long history of trendy collaborations, this partnership with Netflix is a thrilling way to continue that legacy — offering exclusive watch party must-haves and holiday gifts and engaging experiences that bring Hawkins into everyday life.”
Besides the in-store experience and commercials, Target and Stranger Things merchandise will be available starting October 5th, 2025. We have already seen the new Stranger Things Demogorgon Popcorn Bucket. There are crossovers with He-Man, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ books, Dungeon & Dragons, Guns & Roses, and so much more.
Back to the ’80s: The 1987 Target Experience
The collaboration reaches its peak on October 12th when Target blurs the line between retail and storytelling. Fans will be able to step directly into a meticulously recreated 1987 Target store, complete with a period-perfect commercial produced alongside the show’s creative team. The campaign effectively turns Target into a stage for the final season’s biggest moments, capitalizing on the show’s signature ’80s nostalgia.
The grand finale, Stranger Things 5, will debut on Netflix in three volumes this fall. Volume 1: Four episodes release on November 26th, Volume 2: Three episodes drop on Christmas Day, The Finale: The series concludes on New Year’s Eve. All episodes will release at 5:00 PM PST / 8:00 PM EST.
