Nine Inch Nails Soundtrack Debuts on TRON Ride at Disney World.
Master Control Program has taken over Tron Lightcycle / Run at the Magic Kingdom today! A new TRON: Ares overlay for the attraction has debuted, and we got to ride it first thing this morning. The new ride overlay brings the new TRON: Ares red color scheme to the ride, with the wheels of the coaster, the dome, and the lights that follow you along the Grid all red now. Furthermore, inside the attraction is a new ride story where MCP has asked you to take over the gates (and pay attention at the end of the ride for the big story finale, we are not giving it away).
The most surprising and impactful change is the new soundtrack from industrial rock pioneers, Nine Inch Nails. Known for their intense and atmospheric music, the band’s collaboration with Disney Parks is arguably one of the most unexpected tie-ins in the history of Walt Disney World.
As you board your Lightcycle and launch into the Grid, the iconic blue energy is replaced by a pulsating red glow, accompanied by a custom-composed score from NIN. The music isn’t just a single track; it’s a dynamic, reality-bending mix that shifts with the energy of the ride, creating an entirely new, more intense feeling as you race through the digital world. The band, formed by Trent Reznor in 1988, brings a gritty, industrial feel that perfectly aligns with the darker aesthetic of the upcoming TRON: Ares film. This is the band’s first official soundtrack for a Disney park, and the full album is set to be released on September 19th, 2025.
Disney Parks‘ Social media posted today, “Tron: Ares is taking control. Starting today, TRON Lightcycle / Run presented by Enterprise at #MagicKingdom Park in #WaltDisneyWorld will feature movie-inspired lighting and reality-bending music from Nine Inch Nails. Tron: Ares in theaters October 10th.”
TRON: Ares: Disney Parks Tie-In
In a special tie-in with the film’s release, the TRON Lightcycle / Run attraction at Walt Disney World and Shanghai Disneyland will be getting a limited-time “TRON: Ares” overlay. Starting September 15th at Walt Disney World and September 16th in Shanghai Disneyland, the ride’s iconic blue trails will be replaced with the film’s dazzling red-and-orange hues and a new soundtrack from Nine Inch Nails. This offers fans another way to immerse themselves in the world of “Tron: Ares.”
TRON: Ares Beyond the Parks, Popcorn Buckets and More.
TRON: Ares Lightcycle Popcorn Buckets, Arcade Cabinets & More: A Collector’s Guide. “TRON: Ares” follows a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with A.I. beings. The theatrical release date is October 10th, 2025, with early access screenings in 3D and premium formats beginning on October 8. As fans gear up for the next chapter of Disney’s groundbreaking saga, the first wave of movie tie-ins, including popcorn buckets, pins, and keychains, has been released.
Since our initial post, major theater chains, including Cinemark, Regal, and Marcus, have all updated their offerings. We are continually updating this article as new information becomes available, particularly regarding pricing. The Tron Popcorn Buckets have been announced “Coming to Theaters,” but our experience tells us that some of them should be available online at the individual theater shops.
