Monstropolis “Monsters, Inc.” Door Vault Coaster Construction Begins at Hollywood Studios. New Images show that construction has begun on the new roller coaster themed after the door vault scene in Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. The upcoming door ride will feature the first-ever suspended coaster at a Disney Park, and the first-ever vertical lift.
Images from Bioreconstruct on X show the parking lot of Hollywood Studios has been sectioned off and fences installed around the perimeter. A new outline of the building that will house the new coaster is visible. Asphalt has been removed, which gives a great idea of the size of the new Monsters, Inc. Door Vault Coaster.
If you zoom into the images, you can also see that the large Kermit the Frog statues on the backside of Muppets Studios One Store have been removed, along with the Miss Piggy fountain.
Monstropolis – Monsters, Inc. Land could open in 2026 or 2027. No official date has been revealed.

First announced at last year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Imagineers are hard at work bringing the world of Pixar Animation Studios’ Monsters, Inc. to life — and that includes its monster inhabitants, James P. Sullivan, Mike Wazowski, and more. While getting to walk through the streets of Monstropolis is exciting enough, the land will include a signature attraction where guests embark on a thrilling roller coaster ride through the Monsters, Inc. door vault.
We have done a deep dive into the new restaurant coming to Monstropolis, Harryhausen’s Sushi.
