Meet Whimsy The New Original Walt Disney World Character Debuting at Disney Starlight

Meet “Whimsy”: The New Original Walt Disney World Character Debuting at Disney Starlight. The grand finale of the new nighttime parade, Disney Stralight, coming to the Magic Kingdom on July 20th, 2025, will be a parade float that isn’t just a parade float. It is Walt Disney World’s exclusive new Disney character, Whimsy the Starlight Train.

In a brand new “We Call It Imagineering” Disney Live Entertainment YouTube video posted on 7.12.2025, Tara Anderson, Show Director Disney Live Entertainment says “We wanted it (Disney Starlight) to be big, grand and gorgeous, but also funny, sweet, and thrilling.” as she introduces the Disney Parade float that looks like a train.

Whimsy the Starlight Train Parade Float will carry Mickey Mouse, Minnie Mouse, Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Daisy, Snow White, Dopey, Rapunzel, Flynn, Aladdin, and Jasmine. Other parade floats that will be appearing during Disney Stralight: Dream the Night Away. We start with The Blue Fairy, then see Peter Pan and Wendy on the Rooftops of London, travel to the kingdom of Rosa, and Disney’s Wish. From there, Disney will celebrate the Family Madrigal and Encanto, followed by Frozen and Elsa & Anna, then the world of Coco, and Moana will have her float.

Whismy is the first new exclusive Walt Disney World character in a few years. The most recent exclusive character introduced was Ollie the Gingerbread, who is the host of Jollywood Nights at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Other notable Walt Disney World exclusive characters are Figment, Orange Bird, and Sonny Eclipse.

Will we see Whismy on merchandise? We do not know, as of now, whether anything has been announced. It sure would be nice to have a plush or popcorn bucket.

Disney Starlight premieres July 20th, 2025, at 9:00 PM and 11:00 PM. The new nighttime parade will travel the Magic Kingdom starting in Town Square USA and follow the parade route to Frontierland.

Disney parks recently posted: “We’re also giving you your very first look at ‘Disney Starlight: Dream the Night Away,’ the dazzling new nighttime parade debuting July 20 at Walt Disney World! You will see some of the incredible floats lighting up for the first time as the team works through programming and rehearsals, and you’ll meet Whimsy, an original character created just for “Disney Starlight.” We can’t wait for you to see the finished parade in the park. It’s an impressive theatrical spectacle!”
