
Magic Kingdom Ride “Astro Orbiter” Refurbishment Starting in January. Today Disney World has issued a statement on the website saying that another Disney World ride will be going down for an extended refurbishment. Astro Orbiter in the Magic Kingdom will join Big Thunder Mountain Railroad as being closed starting in January.

Astro Orbiter will be temporarily closed for refurbishment beginning January 13, 2025, and is planned to reopen in the summer of 2025.
This makes another attraction that will close in January. Astro Orbiter joins Big Thunder Mountain Railroad which closes on January 6th, which wont reopen until sometime in 2026. Kali River Rapids in Disney’s Animal Kingdom usually goes down for refurbishment in the colder months, and it closes in January 2025. At Epcot, Test Track is down for a major refurbishment and retheme, along with the Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Amigos closing in January for 6 weeks.

We took a ride on Astro Obiter this morning. Not a ride we often go on. Something about being that high in the air! While the ride itself is the same as TriceraTop Spin Spin, Dumbo, and Magic Carpet ride, it is unique to Tomorrowland.
