What happens when a kiss changes a statue back into a Mediaeval knight in the 21st century? The answer is a sweet Fall Into Love romance starring Julie Gonzalo and James Trevena. A Knight to Remember premieres tonight on Hallmark Channel and will stream tomorrow on Hallmark+.
A Knight to Remember is based on the book Her Knight at the Museum by Bryn Donovan. The story is about how museum conservator Emily Porter (Gonzalo) restores a centuries-old statue of legendary Mediaeval knight Sir Griffin de Beauford (Trevena), and one unexpected kiss brings him magically back to life and turns her carefully ordered world upside down. As Emily helps the chivalrous time-traveler navigate modern Chicago, pumpkin spice lattes, a Halloween Medieval Fayre, and an FBI investigation led by her ex-husband, she begins to rediscover the wonder and romance she thought she had left behind. But with a rare celestial conjunction approaching and Griffin’s fate hanging in the balance, Emily must decide whether the safest heart is one kept guarded or one brave enough to believe in a love written in the stars.
This movie was a pleasant surprise to me. I wasn’t too excited about it, and boy, was this a home run for me. Julie and James had perfect chemistry. James played Griffin with brilliant comedic charm. Plus, he looked fantastic in the robe! Trust me! Julie always has a sense of warmth and is grounded. The special Hearties filled cameo was a huge surprise. Found myself rooting for Sir Griffin and Sir Frederick.
Hallmark movies have leaned into the time-travel or displaced-in-time tropes in the last few years. A Knight to Remember is in that time trope but also the magical or fantasy realm. Between the wish on a star and the magical awakening, sword fights and archery at the Halloween Medieval Fayre, and the time race, the movie delivers on the Fall/Halloween spooky season feel. We get to dive into the magic and star charts, and also true love’s kiss romance. It’s the best of mystical, magical romance.
My take is that if you like magic, time-displaced knights, Halloween feels, and a beautiful romance, then this is the perfect Fall Into Love movie for you. Fall Into Love will wrap up next week with The Spirit of Halloween.
