Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind Plays “September” All Day for the Fourth Year in a Row

For the fourth year in a row, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind at EPCOT will play Earth, Wind & Fire’s “September” all day long on September 21, 2026, because Disney found a date on the calendar it could turn into a marketing occasion and, naturally, did not let it go to waste.

Cosmic Rewind’s Awesome Mix normally randomizes which of six songs riders get on any given launch, which mostly means bracing yourself for “Conga” and pretending you are fine with it. On September 21 that gamble disappears. Every trip through the galaxy gets the same song, a nod to the opening line “Do you remember the 21st night of September,” which is either a delightful bit of Imagineering trivia or proof that someone in a planning meeting really wanted an excuse to not build a seventh song into the rotation. Disney has kept the tradition going every year since 2023, and this year comes with a few extras layered on top.

Star-Lord is scheduled to meet guests near the attraction, though times are only confirmed through My Disney Experience day of, so bring patience along with your dance moves. Connections Café and Eatery is adding a one-day-only Supernova Sip, made with spicy hot honey syrup, lemon juice, and edible glitter, topped with orange cotton candy, with a spiked version available using Maker’s Mark for anyone who wants their nostalgia to come with a kick. Treasures of Xandar, the shop just outside the ride’s exit, is standing by in case a glittery drink and a free song are not quite souvenir enough.

We covered this same tradition last year, when the song returned for its third year running, and Disney has now made it consistent enough that it counts as an actual plan rather than a rumor worth chasing. It also lands in the middle of the EPCOT International Food & Wine Festival, running through November 21, so a September 21 trip can turn into a full day between the ride and the festival’s global marketplaces. Our EPCOT Festival Guide has the full festival rundown if you’re building out the rest of the day.

It is a small thing for Disney to commit to, one song on one day tied to a lyric fans have pointed out since the ride opened, and yet somehow it works better than half the officially planned park events. If you are at EPCOT on the 21st, ride it more than once. You already know which song you are getting, and for once that is a good thing.
