Disney+ has released its full May 2026 content schedule and it is one of the strongest months of the year so far, with Jon Bernthal returning as Frank Castle in a new Marvel special presentation, the Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale, the premiere of Sofia the First: Royal Magic, new Bluey minisodes, and the Star Wars: Maul Shadow Lord season finale all arriving before the end of the month.
The Big Marvel Month: The Punisher and Daredevil
May 2026 is a serious month for Marvel fans on Disney+. On May 12, A Marvel Television Special Presentation: The Punisher: One Last Kill premieres at 6 p.m. PT. Jon Bernthal returns as Frank Castle in a story where revenge is supposedly off the table until an unexpected conflict pulls him right back in. This is a special presentation format, which Marvel has used before to deliver standalone stories that feel like a full film without a multi-episode commitment. If you watched Daredevil: Born Again and wanted more of Bernthal’s Frank Castle, this is your month.
The Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 finale also lands in May. Season 2 follows Mayor Wilson Fisk tightening his grip on New York City while Matt Murdock works from the shadows to bring down the Kingpin’s empire. The season has been building toward this conclusion and if the first season was any indication, the finale will not land quietly.
Star Wars: Maul — Shadow Lord Season Finale
Star Wars fans have been watching Maul — Shadow Lord unfold since its spring debut and the season finale arrives in May. Set after the events of The Clone Wars, the series follows Maul as he rebuilds his criminal syndicate on a planet outside the Empire’s reach. The show has leaned into the character’s post-Clone Wars ambition in a way that fans of that era of Star Wars storytelling have been waiting for. Sofia the First: Royal Magic Premieres May 26
This is the one that has been on our radar for months. Sofia the First: Royal Magic premieres on Disney Jr. on May 25 and on Disney+ on May 26. The computer-animated sequel series picks up after Sofia’s graduation as she enrolls at the Charmswell School for Royal Magic, where she discovers she may be the most magically gifted princess in the realm. The original Sofia the First ran from 2012 to 2018 and built a devoted audience of families who grew up watching it together. This sequel series has been one of the most anticipated Disney+ premieres of 2026. We will have a full premiere article the week of May 25.
Bluey Minisodes Return on May 20
New Bluey Minisodes arrive on Disney+ on May 20. If you have a Bluey fan in your house you already know this is not a small deal. The minisode format has kept the Bluey audience engaged between full episode releases and each drop generates genuine excitement. Minnie’s Bow-Toons: Pet Hotel and Family Titles
On May 15, new episodes of Minnie’s Bow-Toons: Pet Hotel arrive on Disney+. The Emmy Award-winning short-form series follows Minnie, Daisy, and Cuckoo-Loca as they run a pet hotel in Hot Dog Hills complete with a spa, yoga studio, and gourmet kitchen. New episodes of BeddyByes Season 1 also arrive on May 22 for the youngest viewers in the house. And on May 1, the family film We Bought a Zoo joins the Disney+ library. The 2011 Matt Damon film about a father who purchases a run-down zoo and rebuilds it with his family is a warm, crowd-pleasing pick for family movie night.
Tucci in Italy Season 2
Tucci in Italy Season 2 premieres on Disney+ and Hulu on May 12. National Geographic’s Stanley Tucci series returns with a focus on how Italian food reflects regional identity, covering lesser-known regions like Le Marche alongside stops in Campania, Veneto, Sardinia, and Sicily. If you watched the first season this is an easy yes. If you have not, May is a good time to start from the beginning.

May is a strong month and the two titles worth circling on your calendar right now are Sofia the First: Royal Magic and The Punisher: One Last Kill. Sofia the First is the bigger cultural moment. The return of that character after nearly a decade away is going to matter to a lot of families, and the Disney+ premiere on May 26 is going to feel like a genuine event for households that grew up with the original series. The Punisher special is the Marvel moment of the month and Jon Bernthal coming back to that role is exactly the kind of news Marvel fans have been hoping for since Daredevil: Born Again brought him back into the fold. Both are worth your time.
