Disney Extends President Bush’s ‘Portraits of Courage’ Exhibit Through July 4th for America’s Semiquincentennial. As the United States prepares to celebrate its 250th anniversary, Walt Disney World Resort has announced that the popular EPCOT exhibit, Portraits of Courage: A Commander in Chief’s Tribute to America’s Warriors, will be extended through the Fourth of July weekend in 2026.
Originally debuted at the American Adventure Pavilion in June 2024, the collection was slated for a shorter run. However, its significant popularity and the milestone of the nation’s “Semiquincentennial” led Disney to extend its stay, ensuring summer travelers can witness the tribute through the Independence Day holiday.
A Personal Tribute to Post-9/11 Heroes
The exhibit features over 60 vibrant oil paintings by former President George W. Bush. Unlike traditional presidential portraiture, these pieces focus on the stories of the men and women who served in the U.S. Armed Forces following the events of September 11, 2001.
- The Subjects: Each portrait depicts a veteran or service member whom President Bush has personally come to know since his time in office.
- The Mission: The collection highlights the resilience, sacrifice, and continued contributions of veterans in their civilian lives.
- The Setting: Hosted within the American Adventure Pavilion, the exhibit shares a roof with a legacy of military appreciation that traces back to founders Walt and Roy O. Disney, both of whom served during World War I.
Part of Disney’s “America 250” Celebration
The extension is a cornerstone of Disney’s broader programming for the 250th anniversary of the United States. Since its opening, the exhibit has become a point of reflection for international and domestic guests alike, offering a more intimate look at the human cost and courage associated with modern military service.
“We’re honored to host this inspiring collection… through our nation’s birthday this year so that even more guests have the opportunity to visit,” Disney officials stated in the announcement.
