Epcot ‘Voices of Liberty’ Honors Presidents’ Day with Rare Performances and Veteran Stories. Epcot is celebrating Presidents’ Day at the American Adventure pavilion with a focus on veterans and a rare musical performance. This marks the start of “Disney Celebrates America,” a company-wide tribute leading up to the country’s 250th anniversary.

The main event features the Voices of Liberty performing “Echo Sets.” Usually, the group stays on the ground floor. For these sets, half the singers go up to the second-floor balcony. The sound bounces off the dome and fills the whole room. They’re singing classics like “Golden Dream” and “This Land is Your Land.”

“Joy is at the heart of everything we sing. When someone in the audience truly connects with what we’re sharing, it energizes us. Sometimes we become emotional, but most of all, it inspires us to dive deeper and deliver the message to its fullest potential,” said Voices of Liberty singer, Aaron Stratton.

Veteran Cast Members Celebrate America

For some staff, the show is personal. Singer Aaron Stratton has been with the group for over a decade. Before joining Disney, he served in the U.S. Marine Corps Reserves.

“When I first joined the group in 2013, my older brother was on a tour in Afghanistan,” Stratton said. “Certain songs would evoke strong emotions for me, reminding me how proud I was of him and of representing the U.S. in this role.” He enjoys meeting guests from around the world and sharing American history with people who might not see patriotism expressed like this at home.

It isn’t just the singers, though. Behind-the-scenes technicians play a huge role. They light the rotunda in red, white, and blue to match the music. Patrick Lineman, a tech planner and fellow veteran, handles these special effects. He says the experience makes him feel remembered and that being part of the crew is “magical.”
