This news comes straight from Disney’s latest roadmap for the franchise. The new short will kick off a massive celebration for fans as they await the release of Frozen 3. Here is everything we know about the upcoming project and what it means for Arendelle’s future.
Disney executive Paul Gitter confirmed the news during an interview with License Global. The short is a key part of “Frozen Fan Fest,” which is basically turning the month of October into a “Frozen month.” They want to keep the momentum going before the next big theatrical chapter.
Paul Gitter, executive vice president, global brand commercialization, “We’re excited to kick off the countdown to “Frozen 3” with a new short this October, ahead of our biggest ever cross-company movie marketing campaign in 2027.”
So far, there is no word on where the new Frozen Short will be released in October 2026. While Disney+ is quite possible, it could also have been seen before the movie Hexed, which is the next Walt Disney Animation Studios major theatrical release, but that does not hit theaters until Nov of 2026.
Olaf Voice Josh Gad Teases the Sequel
The voice of Olaf himself, Josh Gad, just shared some big news on Instagram. He posted a photo with the creative team—including directors Jennifer Lee and Trent Correy—holding up three fingers. His caption said:
“3rd time is always the charm ☃️ Time to build another snowman. #frozen3”
This post basically confirms that voice recording and production are officially moving forward. It’s a great sign for fans who have been waiting for a concrete update on the cast’s progress.
A New Addition to the Shorts
This will be the third major short for the series. It follows the two previous releases:

- Olaf’s Frozen Adventure: Olaf travels around to find the best holiday traditions.
The Wait for Frozen 3
We still have a long road ahead for the next full feature. Frozen 3 is currently scheduled to hit theaters on November 24, 2027. Since that is still over a year away, this new short is Disney’s way of giving fans something new to watch in the meantime.
