Disney Afternoon Classics Heading to Switch and Switch 2 This February. Nintendo fans are finally getting a dose of 90s nostalgia. The Disney Afternoon Collection is launching digitally for the Nintendo Switch and the upcoming Switch 2 on February 26. While the digital version drops first, physical copies are coming later.
These games originally came out on the NES and SNES, developed by Capcom back when the Disney Afternoon TV block was a huge deal. Digital Eclipse, the studio behind the collection, already put this out for other platforms, but the Nintendo version is getting some exclusive extras.
New Games Added to the Mix
The original collection had six NES games, but this new release adds two SNES titles you couldn’t get before:
- Goof Troop: A co-op puzzle adventure where Goofy and Max explore an island.
- Bonkers: A platformer where you hunt down toon treasures.
The classic NES lineup is still there, too. You’ll get both DuckTales games, both Chip ‘n Dale Rescue Rangers titles, Darkwing Duck, and TaleSpin.
Modern Features for Old Games
Retrogaming can be tough, so the developers added a Rewind button. If you miss a jump or walk into an enemy, you can just back up the footage and try again.
There are also a few new ways to play:
- Boss Rush: Fight every boss in the NES games back-to-back.
- Time Attack: A mode for speedrunners with online leaderboards.
- Music Player: You can listen to the full soundtracks, including the famous “Moon Theme” from DuckTales.
- The Gallery: This section shows old concept art, vintage ads, and sketches from the original artists.
Physical Release Details
If you prefer owning a cartridge, the physical edition comes with some extra “feelies.” It includes the game, two sticker sheets, eight retro milk caps (pogs), and three collectible cards.
Digital pre-orders are open now on the eShop. If you want the physical version, you can pre-order that as well, though it won’t ship until after the February digital launch.
