Disney Studios 'Tangled': Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel?

Disney Studios ‘Tangled’: Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel? It looks like the tower door is finally opening! Following the massive news this week that Disney has officially found its Rapunzel and Flynn Rider, reports are now surfacing that the studio is eyeing a fan-favorite “witch” to play the iconic villain.

According to Variety today, the cast of the newly announced live-action movie Tangled may be growing to include Kathryn Hahn as Mother Gothel. If talks work out, she would be cast alongside the announced cast of Teagan Croft as Rapunzel and Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider.

Hahn, fresh off her success in Marvel’s Agatha All Along, has long been a top pick for fans. Her ability to balance campy humor with genuine menace makes her a natural fit for the woman who “knows best.” While Scarlett Johansson was previously rumored for the role, scheduling conflicts with The Batman Part II reportedly opened the door for Hahn to step in.

Fans of Dancing with the Stars on ABC and the Zombies movie may be familiar with Milo Manheim. He has played Zed in the Zombies franchise. Teagan Croft recently played Raven in the Titans show on DC Streaming, which later became HBOMax.

Tangled was originally released by Walt Disney Animation Studios on November 24, 2010. When the kingdom’s most wanted-and most charming-bandit, Flynn Rider (Zachary Levi), hides out in a mysterious tower, he’s taken hostage by Rapunzel (Mandy Moore), a beautiful and feisty tower-bound teen with 70 feet of magical, golden hair. Flynn’s curious captor, who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower where she’s been locked away for years, strikes a deal with the handsome thief, and the unlikely duo sets off on an action-packed escapade, complete with a super-cop horse (Maximus), an over-protective chameleon (Pascal), and a gruff gang of pub thugs.
