Forget the Disney Skyliner and do not worry about tracking your Lightning Lanes; we’ve got a much more magical flight to track today! While we’re busy sipping on Peppermint Hot Cocoa and waiting for the Mickey’s Once Upon a Christmastime Parade to roll down Main Street, the team over at NORAD (North American Aerospace Defense Command) has just confirmed the news we’ve all been waiting for: Santa Claus has officially cleared the North Pole airspace!
As of this morning, the “Jolly Ol’ Elf” has officially begun his 2025 world tour. If you’re like us and can’t stop checking the Wait Times on the My Disney Experience app, you’ll definitely want to add the NORAD Santa Tracker to your rotation today. NORAD uses high-tech infrared sensors (the same ones they use to track missiles!) to detect the heat signature from Rudolph’s very famous, very shiny red nose.
As of this writing, Santa and his reindeer are just passing Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. If you see a bright light streaking across the sky tonight over Cinderella Castle, it might not just be the Minnie’s Wonderful Christmastime Fireworks; it could be Rudolph’s nose!
You can keep up with Santa’s progress through the official NORAD Tracks Santa website, which features a live 3D map. If you’re currently waiting in line for Jingle Cruise, it’s the perfect way to pass the time!
As a reminder to our friends staying at Disney Resort hotels tonight: Santa only arrives once you’re fast asleep! So, after the fireworks conclude and you’ve finished your milk and cookies (we recommend the ones from Gideon’s or Summer House on the Lake, if you thought ahead to snag some), make sure to get some shut-eye so he can make his stop at Walt Disney World, usually between 9:00 and Midnight!
