Rowlf & Miss Piggy Steal the Show Singing Gaming Titles at The Game Awards. I may have already upset The Pig! She always wants top billing, so maybe I should have made the headline Miss Piggy Stuns Fans and Guests at The Game Awards, oh, and a dog who plays piano was also there. Last Night at The Game Awards, the duo showed that The Muppets are always contemporary, they never grow up, and they never change, even though they have changed drastically over the years.
Okay, here comes the Gen-X moment of the article, where we become reflective. I didn’t think I would see the day The Muppets would be singing about Hollow Knight: Silk Song, Discord, Kingdom Hearts, or Mario! But this is what we got last night when Rowlf the Dog, and Miss Piggy, um… (“Watch it, bub!”) I digress, sang the Games. Watch the official X video below. Just goes to show you, The Muppets still got it!
Miss Piggy came out to talk with host Geoff Keighley before being introduced. In fact, Geoff didn’t even mention Rowlf for the intro, which was probably written by Miss Piggy. I told you she doesn’t like being upstaged! Rowlf is already seated at his iconic upright piano. Miss Piggy then goes on to blame Rowlf for being late and not having a song ready to sing for the awaiting crowd. The dog was just out taking himself for a walk!
Rowlf then gets Miss Piggy to ‘Wing It’ with a made-up song on the spot about the evening and gaming! “In a World where gaming games are so exciting!” the duo sing back and forth “, Oh, The Game Awards will never let you down!” (Which they didn’t). It is at the end though, where Rowlf name drops some of the top games that were fascinating to watch and listen to, mentioning games like Mario, Minecraft, Legenf of Zelda, Kingdom Hearts, Shovel Knight, Fortnite, plus more, and he ends with “we know you have all been waiting for the long delayed release of Hollow Knight: Silk Song!“
The Muppets are enjoying their 70th Anniversary this year. From getting a new roller coaster at Disney’s Hollywood Studios to rare muppets being released on magnets at Disney Parks, the celebration continues as The Muppet Show itself is set to make a comeback in 2026 with Sabrina Carpenter.
