Universal Destinations & Experiences has shared all the details for the brand new Universal Kids Resort, and it sounds like a perfect place for families with young kids. This new theme park, which is specifically built for a younger audience, is set to open in Frisco, Texas, in 2026. Universal Kids Resort will have seven themed lands featuring characters from some really popular movies and shows.

The Seven Themed Lands:

  • DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp
  • Jurassic World Adventure Camp
  • Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom
  • Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club
  • DreamWorks’ TrollsFest
  • DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar
  • The Isle of Curiosity

Molly Murphy, President of Universal Creative, said they designed every detail “through a child’s eyes,” so things like signs are at kid height, and the colors are super inviting. It’s all about celebrating being a kid.

Highlights from the Themed Lands. Here’s a quick look at some of the things you can do in a few of the areas:

Jurassic World Adventure Camp

Families can ride the Jurassic World: Cretaceous Coaster to help find the lost Ankylosaurus, Bumpy. There’s also the Pteranodrop ride for a high-up view, and a large play area called the Jurassic World Lookout Towers. When you get hungry, the Jurassic World Canteen is the spot for a T. rex-sized meal.

SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom

Get ready to splash around! Kids and families can bounce on the Jellyfish Fields Jamboree ride. The Bobbing Barrels will have water cannons so you can blast water at each other as you spin. You can also meet SpongeBob, Patrick Star, and Sandy Cheeks and grab a sky-high sundae at Goofy Goober’s.

Shrek’s Swamp

The main ride is Shrek & Fiona’s Happily Ogre After, which takes you through their story. There will also be two interactive play areas: Shrek’s Swamp Rompin’ Stomp and Shrek’s Swamp Splash & Smash. If you’re hungry for an ogre-sized snack, you can try a Shrekzel at Swamp Snacks.

Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club

This land is all about a fun, messy water battle. You can grab a water blaster and join the chaos. The Bello Bay Cruise will put you in the splash zone, and the Bello Bay Golf Cart Derby will be a spinning competition ride.

TrollsFest

This is where you can sing, dance, and groove. There’s the indoor King Trollex Techno Dance Party and an armadillo bus ride called Rhonda’s TrollsFest Express. You can even get a “Troll-ify Me!” makeover at Sparkle Shine Glitter Glow.

The Hotel and Calm Spots

The new resort hotel is designed with families in mind, offering rooms and family suites that can sleep up to five or six people, some with bunk beds. It’s just steps away from the park.

A cool detail is that, in addition to all the play areas, the park will feature multiple sensory gardens. These are designed to be calm spaces for children and families to take a break and recharge.

The company says this park is a place where kids can be themselves and experience their favorite worlds brought to life. You can visit UniversalKidsResort.com to stay updated on the park’s opening.
