Do we rush up and hug him like he is the second coming of Mickey Mouse or the Philly Phanatic? Is he going to elicit hour-long lines like meeting Nick & Judy Hopps at Disney World? Will he spray us with popcorn like Benny the Bull? We have questions for Marcus Theatres after they just introduced a brand new Popcorn Bucket mascot named Poppy!
He’s corny, he’s buttery, and he’s officially part of the crew! Poppy, the popcorn bucket mascot for Marcus Theatres, aka Movie Tavern, was just announced recently and made his debut yesterday.
Marcus Theatres posted on 11/14/2025: “Our new mascot Poppy’s out here lookin like a snack 👀🍿” with an Instagram Reel showing the large popcorn bucket overflowing with popped popcorn that makes up his brains or hair? Skull? Large eyes that seem to say, “I am way too happy to have you eat me,” and a huge open-mouth smile will greet fans when they meet Poppy. He has a red top half and a red & white striped bottom half.

Joshvandenavond, the artist behind Poppy, posted “Meet Poppy, the new mascot for @marcustheatres. What’s more fun than an animated bucket of popcorn snacking on a bucket of Popcorn? This little guy was so fun to bring to life. The emotions of a thriller or tear jerker brought to life in a popcorn mascot. Not to mention his butter bottom shoes that really complete the look! You’ll be able to find Poppy at a Marcus Theatres… maybe even the real-life mascot.. 👀👀 The real fun part about this whole thing is that a decade ago, as a little know-nothing design intern, I worked for Marcus Theatres. What a fun full circle moment to bring this new character to life and get the band back together!”
