First Look at ‘Stranger Things: Tales From ’85’ Animated Series Unveiled. Get ready to return to Hawkins in a brand-new way! On Stranger Things Day, fans were treated to a first look and cast reveal for the upcoming animated series, Stranger Things: Tales From ’85. Set to debut in 2026, this spin-off promises to keep the ’80s magic and paranormal mysteries alive.
The Adventure Continues Between Seasons 2 and 3. Don’t mourn the main show’s finale just yet! Tales From ’85 is an exciting new entry into the Stranger Things universe, created by showrunner Eric Robles and Stranger Things co-creators Matt and Ross Duffer.
The animated show is set between Seasons 2 and 3 of the series. It features characters fans “already know and love,” the 1985 setting, a freezing winter in Hawkins, will see our heroes facing “new monsters and unravel[ing] a paranormal mystery terrorizing their town,” according to the newly released YouTube Video.
Ross Duffer noted, “With animation, there’s really no limits… Eric and his team can just go wild… and they have.”
The creative team is thrilled to explore the world of Hawkins through the unbounded lens of animation. Showrunner Eric Robles emphasized the series will capture “the magic of Hawkins in a new way,” advising fans to “get your flashlight, get your backpack because it’s going to be amazing.”
The Duffers previously shared their excitement, telling Tudum, “We couldn’t be more blown away by what Eric Robles and his team have come up with –– the scripts and artwork are incredible, and we can’t wait to share more with you! The adventure continues.”
The idea for the series was one of the first concepts the Duffer brothers explored when brainstorming other possibilities within the world of Stranger Things. Robles adds a final tease: “We soon learn that nothing is quite as they thought it was.”
