Rewarding Responders, a North Carolina-based nonprofit dedicated to honoring the sacrifices of first responders, held its annual First Responder Family Vacation trip this fall, sending a deserving local hero and his family to Walt Disney World.
This year’s honored recipient is Captain Brian Boom, a dedicated firefighter with the Thoroughfare Volunteer Fire Department in Eastern North Carolina. Captain Boom was nominated by multiple peers and community members for his unwavering service, remarkable resilience, and commitment to his community.
A Debt of Gratitude Paid in Magic: Each year, Rewarding Responders selects a deserving first responder family to enjoy a completely paid dream vacation. This unique trip provides families with a crucial opportunity to rest, reconnect, and make lifelong memories together. From park tickets, resort accommodations, and dining to travel expenses, every detail is covered, allowing families to experience the magic of Disney without any financial burden or worry.
“Our mission is very simple—to give back to those who give so much of themselves,” said Mallory Dumond, President & Founder of Rewarding Responders. “This trip is our way of saying thank you for the selflessness and compassion that first responders show every day.”
The organization, which is supported entirely by community donations and partnerships, is focused on growing its outreach. Rewarding Responders plans to expand its annual trips in the future to include more first responder families nationwide.
As the nation prepares to celebrate National First Responder’s Day on Tuesday, October 28th, the organization encourages the public to recognize the sacrifices made by first responders like Captain Boom across the country.
