Universal Reveals Themed Lands for Kids Resort in Texas. Universal Destinations & Experiences has released new details about the Universal Kids Resort, a theme park opening in Frisco, Texas, in 2026 and specifically designed for families with young children.
The resort will feature seven themed lands based on iconic characters and brands, giving kids and families areas to explore, imagine, and play:
- DreamWorks’ Shrek’s Swamp: Features interactive play areas like Shrek’s Swamp Rompin’ Stomp and Shrek’s Swamp Splash & Smash, and meet-and-greets with Shrek and Fiona.
- DreamWorks’ Puss in Boots Del Mar: Offers carnival games and a chance to meet Puss in Boots.
- Illumination’s Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club: A water-soaked play area with Yellow and Purple Minion chaos and meet-and-greets.
- Jurassic World Adventure Camp: Guests can meet a newly hatched baby dinosaur and climb the Lookout Towers play area.
- DreamWorks’ TrollsFest: A lively, music-filled party with meet-and-greets for Poppy and Branch, and play areas like Poppy’s Playland.
- Nickelodeon’s SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom: An undersea zone where families can meet SpongeBob, Patrick, and Sandy, with play areas like Pineapple Paradise.
- Isle of Curiosity: The whimsical entry gateway to the park, where guests can meet Gabby from DreamWorks’ Gabby’s Dollhouse.
Universal Orlando is getting ready for the 2025 Holidays! EPIC Universe will have Christmas Decorations in Celestial Park and The Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Ministry of Magic!
Molly Murphy, President of Universal Creative, noted the resort is designed to bring families together through play and creativity, describing it as a destination “made for kids and, as a regional theme park, brings Universal’s signature storytelling to families close to home.”
The resort will also include multiple sensory gardens for children and families to pause and reset. The destination will feature a 300-room Universal Kids Resort Hotel located steps away from the park entrance.
