One Last Look at Star Wars Launch Bay is now Officially Closed at Hollywood Studios. Star Wars Launch Bay closed for good last night at 9:00 PM when Disney’s Hollywood Studios closed for the night. Yesterday, we spent some time gathering images for posterity’s sake.
When Star Wars Launch Bay opened on December 4, 2015, as part of the “Season of the Force” events, it provided guests with exhibits of props and costumes, character meet-and-greets, and merchandise, serving as a Star Wars hub before the 2019 opening of Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge. Revolving collections from Star Wars: The Last Jedi and other movies like Star Wars Solo were celebrated.
The Launch Bay is being removed to make way for a retheming of the whole Animation Courtyard area that is due to open sometime in 2026. We would imagine the new experience, “The Magic of Disney Animation,” will open on the Disney World 55th anniversary on October 1st, 2026.

CELEBRATION GALLERY
“Ships Of The Rebel & Imperial Fleets”
When Star Wars: A New Hope opened on May 25, 1977, the space fantasy launched audiences of all ages into unforgettable journeys across a galaxy far, far away. Since then, we have followed beloved heroes and vile villains, some who continue to travel to exotic worlds beyond our wildest dreams. Their starships have sent our imaginations soaring from the harsh deserts of Tatooine to the icy plains of Hoth and everywhere in between.
In this Gallery, enjoy an up-close look at replicas of starcruisers and starfighters as we celebrate these one-of-a-kind spacecraft, the heroes and villains that flew aboard them, and their memorable interstellar adventures.
Inside the Star Wars Launch Bay, you can see a model of the Tantive IV. The Corellian Corvette that Leia was on at the beginning of Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope.
Inside the front ‘windows’, if you shine a flashlight or phone’s light and zoom in, there is an image! Star Wars: A New Hope original movie theater poster, but with Mickey & Minnie Mouse as Luke & Leia, and Goofy as Darth Vader.
